Finding happiness with yourself is often easier said than done. Although your life or situation may not be 100% ideal or perfect (it never will be) it's important to still feel happiness. To be happy is to be in a good stage with your emotions and mental state. Once you've learned to be happy it will have a huge impact on your life.
Here are 5 ways I learned to find happiness with myself and so can you:
1. LEARNING TO SAY NO
Often times you may find yourself saying yes to everyone even though you didn't want to. I've said yes to boyfriends, family, coworkers, and even friends when I actually wanted to say no. It's okay to tell people no sometimes. What's more important is learning to say NO without explaining yourself. If you don't want to go to that party just say no, a [real] friend will understand.
2. NOT EXPECTING YOUR HAPPINESS TO COME FROM OTHERS
If you're a caring person (I blame it on my horoscope...Libra) most times you're happy when someone you love and care about is happy. That is totally fine! However, don't let it be the only thing or source that makes you happy - especially in a romantic relationship! If you feel like your only happy when you're in a romantic relationship then imagine how you'll feel or felt when that relationship ends.
3. DOING THINGS THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY REGARDLESS OF WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK
Which brings me to my 3rd point. If your guilty of finding happiness through relationships romantically or not, take a second to reflect on the things that you do for yourself. Personally, I've discovered that sometimes my happiness is staying home on a Friday night with a good cheat meal and a great TV show. Take a look at the things you do for fun and ask yourself this "Am I really having fun?" or "I'm just trying to pop out or make it seem like I am?". You'll figure out soon enough what you like to do and what you actually don't like to do.
4. COMPARE AND COMPETE WITH ONLY YOURSELF
Especially in this social media age and the famous Instagram Face, I cannot stress this enough, stop scrolling or looking at things that make you feel negative emotions. It's okay to wish for something but if you're constantly wishing for his/her lifestyle their body, clothes, career, then you'll be unhappy instead....
5. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH PEOPLE WHO MAKE YOU FEEL MOTIVATED NOT ENVIOUS
Instead find people who makes you feel good while wishing for those things. Ask yourself if you're wishing for it because it's a trend or because you actually want it. If you want something similar to what they have then create your own path and work towards that goal.
Remember You can make the best version of yourself.
